Linux Ubuntu OpenVPN Setup

  1. From Terminal, install openvpn package using apt-get install network-manager-openvpn.
  2. Restart network manager using restart network-manager
  3. Upload OpenVPN config files
  4. Extract the zip using unzip SMRHostingConfigs.zip
  5. Move the ca.crt file to /etc/openvpn
  6. Open Network Manager on your menu bar.
  7. Choose add then select OpenVPN as the connection type, click on Create.
  8. Enter SMR Hosting OpenVPN for your Connection.
  9. Enter Your Desired Server for Gateway
  10. Select Password then enter the login details.
  11. Browse to that CA Certificate saved on Step 3.
  12. Choose Advanced then enable LZO Compression.
  13. Apply then exit.
  14. Connect with the Network Manager.
